Star of Academia

Well, school has started.

Here's my class load for the Summer 2006 semester:

Monday and Wednesday
INTRO TO MEDIA PRODUCTION

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
CRITICAL THINKING

What I've learned so far:

1. I think college has gotten easier. Let me give you an example. In my Media Production class, we have only 8 class sessions. Here's what my grade is based upon:

50% CLASS ATTENDANCE
40% CLASS PARTICIPATION
10% TAKE HOME FINAL EXAM

2. Students today aren't that bright. We were discussing an image, and the professor mentioned that it reminded him of the Titanic at the bottom of the sea. When asked when the Titanic sank, a shining star in a second row seat exclaimed "In the 1920's!"

3. I'm old. I'm getting one hell of a good education, which, when paired with my ten years of industry specific experience, will land me a killer job with mucho jacko...

4. I don't know what to wear to class. Sometimes I have client meetings before or after class, so I dress accordingly. Being one of the few blue-bloods on a liberal rampant campus, I feel slightly uneasy in Brooks Brothers. On the other hand, I don't want to be the old guy wearing the "funny" T-Shirts like the kids, even though that's what I wear around the house...

5. If I could make a decent living, I'd be a photographer. The last class, we were all turned loose on campus to shoot pictures with a 35mm SLR. My God, I forgot how much fun shot composition is! My only complaint is that we had to share the camera with two other students. For $20K a year in tuition, I want my own fucking camera.

Here's how the Fall 2006 semester shakes out:

INTRO TO BUSINESS - My God, I've taken this class already. They wouldn't transfer it. This, paired with the fact that I've WORKED IN THE REAL WORLD FOR OVER A DECADE, means if I don't get an A+, I'm hosting an open call for anyone who wants, to kick me in the nuts.

MASS COMMUNICATIONS

FUNDAMENTALS OF STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS

MEDIA WRITING

THE HISTORY OF ROCK N' ROLL - Yeah, it's a copout. It's also an elective, and I need an elective. So go fuck your mother.

Wow! You're one busy guy. All those classes plus you work full-time?

Also, GREAT photos on your other entries. Did you take all those or were they all your grandfather's pix?

Hi KC

They were all taken by my grandfather.

Well, that settles it. I'm going back to school. I'll major in History...with an emphasis on Rock n' Roll.

Also, you already know I think your grandfather's pictures are killer - are there any prints for sale locally?
